The Pain Relief Center, Inc. is a hands-on pain relief and wellness clinic in Honolulu, Hawaii, focused on helping adults who are living with pain, injuries, or long-term tension. Many of our patients are dealing with issues that affect their daily lives—sleep, work, movement, and the ability to enjoy time with family and friends.

While massage is part of our work, what we specialize in isn’t simply massage. Our primary method is Integrated Modalities Bodywork (IMB), The Pain Relief Center’s own exclusive brand of therapeutic bodywork. If you’re living with myofascial pain issues, IMB is designed with you in mind.

We use a host of tools ranging from physical and technological to energetic and herbal. We use these tool to find and address root sources of pain and imbalance. Whether your issues are muscular, postural, structural, or energetic, IMB is aimed at helping your body feel more balanced, supported, and at ease.

At the heart of everything we do is a simple idea: we help you feel better in your body. Each visit is one-on-one, with time set aside to listen, evaluate, and provide care that matches your body and your goals. The overall feeling of our clinic is calm, welcoming, and supportive. Our aim is to create a safe space where you can exhale, feel heard, and receive care that helps you move with less pain and more ease.

Life outside our clinic can be noisy and chaotic. We want your time here to feel different—more like arriving at a peaceful home than entering a medical facility.

As you come up the stairs to our office, you’re greeted by plants that begin to shift the feeling of your day. Our waiting area has comfy chairs and a small couch, with more plants and a simple fish bowl that quietly anchors the space. There’s even a sweet 16-year-old office cat named Sophia, who roams in and out and loves greeting patients when they’re open to it.

The intention behind all of this is simple: to give your nervous system a chance to settle before you even step into a treatment room, and to create an environment where it’s easier to feel better in your body.

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide careful, hands-on pain relief that respects each person’s story, body, and goals—so you can move through life with less pain, more confidence, and a deeper sense that you can feel better in your body.

How we approach YOUR care

Individual, one-on-one attention

Each session is dedicated to you. We take time to understand your history, what you’re feeling now, and what you hope to be able to do again—whether that’s sitting through a workday, walking without limping, or sleeping through the night.

Integrated Modalities Bodywork (IMB)

Our work centers around IMB, an integrated approach that blends multiple modalities into one cohesive session. Rather than separating techniques into rigid categories, we draw from physical, energetic, technological, and herbal tools as needed. This allows us to respond to what your body is asking for in the moment—addressing myofascial pain, postural strain, structural imbalances, or energetic fatigue in a way that feels both effective and respectful.

Treatment tailored to you, not a template

We use a range of hands-on techniques and tools, but we don’t follow a one-size-fits-all routine. Your treatment is guided by what your body needs that day: easing tight areas, supporting healing after injury or surgery, and improving how you move in everyday life, so over time you can genuinely feel better in your body.

Respect for your medical care team

Many of our patients are also seeing physicians, physical therapists, or other specialists. We respect those relationships and aim to complement your existing care. We pay attention to your diagnoses, surgery history, and any recommendations or restrictions from your providers.

Experience with VA and local Hawaii insurers

We are familiar with many types of insurance such as: VA, Kaiser/HMSA, Workers Comp., and No-Fault. We are aware of the complex insurance processes and understand that navigating them can feel complicated. Where appropriate, we work within those systems and help you understand what’s needed so you can focus more on your health and less on paperwork.

What you can expect when you visit...

An "at home" calm in the middle of a chaotic world

Time to be heard

Gentle but effective hands-on care

Clear, honest recommendations

Before we begin hands-on work, we listen. You’ll have time to describe your pain, what makes it better or worse, how long it’s been going on, and what you want to be able to do more comfortably. Your story matters just as much as your symptoms.

During treatment, we work with your comfort level. Through Integrated Modalities Bodywork, we aim to reduce pain, ease tension, and improve mobility without pushing your body past what feels safe. You’re always welcome to speak up if something needs to be adjusted.

At the end of your visit, we share what we noticed, what seemed to help, and realistic suggestions for follow-up care. There is no pressure to commit to endless sessions. We offer straightforward guidance so you can make informed decisions about next steps and continue moving toward feeling better in your body.
